It is important because some of their culture and history has changed what our culture is like today. Some ways that they have affected/changed our culture is when Christoper Columbus discovered America the Inca and the Aztec people lost power to the heavy European invasion. Another reason why it is important is because it is important for us to learn about different cultures and how they lived and what their rituals were. Another way that Latin America has affected me is by them having he Cold War. The way that the cold war has affected me is because in the 1950's the war moved closer to the united states because of poverty and poor health care. Another thing why it would be important that we understand that is because they invented many things such as the number 0, chocolate, chewing gum, and even rubber! There are many ways that Latin America has affected me and it is very important that i understand that country. There are many other countries that have affected me too!

Hello Everybody! You guys did a really good job of thinking about the violence practiced by these societies (human sacrifice, etc.) in different ways. Yes, it's pretty gross to us, but many of you tried to put yourselves in their shoes and understand why it might have been a necessary or crucial component to their culture. It makes me wonder about how prevalent things like human sacrifice have been throughout time??? Sigrid Lumbra
